Every week during the 2022 regular season, I’ll be checking out the Eagles Media Guide for interesting nuggets.
The Eagles’ PR intern fills in these little oddities in the media guide nicely, making it a nice way to meet the players behind the helmet.
This week, we spoke with punter Australian punter Arin Sipos.
myself: This said that if you owned a business it would be an ‘Australian style cafe/coffee shop’.
Sipos: why is that? First, because the coffee is so good there. That’s why I’m a big fan of coffee. So I think it’s a good way to go. I think it’s a calm environment. especially on the way home. There are many cafes with a calm atmosphere. I know it’s very popular, so I think it’s an easy way to meet people. And I like doing it myself, so why not give it a try.
myself: what does your cafe look like?
Sipos: Hmm. that’s a good question. You’ve taken me there now Hmm. I think it will work, but I’d like it to be more of a surf vibe if that makes sense. I think the inside is a bright light blue and it will be a nice color. If that makes sense, the cafe is inside and you can see the open kitchen area. And have a little outdoor area that can provide entertainment in terms of music. Maybe they can join in and enjoy a session like coffee, and maybe even have a couple of beers in the afternoon.
myself: all right. i like that that’s good.
Sipos: I think that’s my go-to.
myself: So do you eat the full menu at this place?
Sipos: I would eat breakfast and lunch. Start small, and as it grows in popularity, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights may become dinner time as well. But I think you should start with the breakfast, brunch and lunch menus. I think that is fine.
myself: Is there a place in your house you often go to?
Sipos: Well, where I grew up, I grew up on the beach about 30 minutes outside of town. So anywhere in the area is a real go-to place for me. There are some very nice places. If you have the chance to get in there, I think it will count.
myself: Besides coffee, is there anything, food, or drink you miss at home?
Sipos: Nothing that immediately comes to mind. Coffee is certainly something that immediately comes to mind. But nothing else. I’m a pretty simple guy when it comes to things like that. Nothing too crazy when it comes to drinks and such. But for sure they make some great espressos etc there. I think Philadelphia has some pretty nice places that actually do a pretty good job at it.
myself: So I would like to ask you, would you like to order coffee?
Sipos: My coffee order was… Jake (Elliott) put me on the Espresso Train. So I’m doing it a little. I am a very simple man. You can also have a nice little cappuccino with almond milk. Or maybe change it up a bit… there’s something really, really good. It’s like an espresso shot, but with just a little milk added. It’s called a macchiato.
myself: understood.
Sipos: Those are pretty good too. So there are some options.
myself: Thank you. I appreciate it
Sipos: of course.
Note: According to Espresso & Coffee Guide, a caffe latte is similar to a macchiato, except that “a caffe latte is made with espresso first and then milk, while a latte macchiato is made with steamed milk first. Put it in a glass and then add the espresso.”
