get ready to say goodbye daily pop When nightly pop. yes! has canceled both pop culture news programs and is considering adding new nightly programming.
Tracie Wilson, EVP of Syndication Studios and E! NBCUniversal news informed staff that both shows had ended on Friday per deadline. In a statement it said:
“Hi guys,
Over the past six months, I’ve been digging deeper into E! news business. As we shared in February, our goal is to create a center of excellence for entertainment news at NBCU. I would like to thank everyone who is already working day in and day out to make this happen.
When we first spoke, we promised to reconnect as soon as we had a better idea of our new organizational structure, and today we wanted to share some of that.
News brands such as Access and E! Stage, production management, and hair and makeup. This allows you to work smarter and stronger while making the most of your existing expertise, freeing up resources to compete on a larger scale. It’s only natural that these two great brands join forces. Access has re-established itself as THE home of entertainment news broadcasting, and E! News is one of the industry’s most iconic multi-platform brands.
One of our top priorities is to solidify E!’s role in entertainment news well into the future. Therefore, we are reorganizing our leadership team to achieve that goal.
Our digital footprint remains one of our brand’s strongest assets. Over the last few years, Tammy Filler, who has done a phenomenal job of growing engagement, will continue as his EVP and Editor-in-Chief, overseeing the organization of Digital E!News and the development of his original robust slate of digital. Tammy has three direct reports, a team that drives the growth and formation of the brand. Jen Lavin is actively seeking creative leads and Jamie Blynn will oversee his E! digital strategy. I believe each of these executives is great at what they do, and I believe this new structure will propel this team forward to success.
In addition, we extend the concept of a “center of excellence” to the productive side of our business. Ed Zarcoff will lead this group as his SVP, and news operations will report directly to me. He will work closely with Vinnie Fusco and Christine Killacky to continue all initial production operations. Ed will continue to manage digital production and will be responsible for the following teams: News Operations, Photography and Bookings. Ed’s knowledge of the organization and his past newsroom experience made him a natural fit for this expanded role. We believe this change will streamline and enhance the production process.
Finally, we will continue to focus on the future of E!. and its news offerings, the linear network will launch a new nightly program beginning in late October. We’ll be releasing more details in the coming weeks, but the linear show’s vision is to return to his E! roots. The news brand as the gold standard for entertainment news coverage. As the brand continues to move in this direction, the Daily Pop will end in his mid-September and the Nightly Pop will end in his early October, paving the way for viewers to focus on the new show. A big thank you to the Daily Pop team and the Nightly Pop team for their creativity and commitment. This includes spending countless hours trying to keep these shows up and running during the pandemic.
I know change is hard, but I’m really excited about the future of these brands that we’re building together. / An invitation to a virtual town hall meeting at 1:15 p.m. ET will be displayed to discuss these changes with you.
Thank you for your dedication, flexibility and support as we navigate this process. Look forward to seeing you soon.
thank you very much,
Tracy”
