The “Paint Kingsport 2022!” painting art show has moved from the Renaissance Center to Impressions Fine Art at 246 Broad Street. The show, which depicts scenes from Kingsport by a local plein air artist, will be on display at the new location through September 18th. Featuring artists from the Kingsport Art Guild and scenes painted in locations such as downtown Kingsport, Bays Mountain and Exchange Place.
East Tennessee State University’s Reese Museum is presenting “Local Art During the Global Pandemic 2020,” showcasing the work of 40 artists who lived or worked in Tennessee’s First Congressional District during the early days of the pandemic. The Historic Jonesborough Dance Society has moved to the campus of Tusculum College at 60 Shiloh Road, Greeneville in the old gymnasium of Niswanger Commons. With Eastman’s sponsorship, the Appalachian Resource Conservation and Development Council partnered with Kingsport Farmers Market and Healthy Kingsport to launch Pharmacy Fit, a farmers market walking program. Open to everyone from 9am to 11am Wednesdays and Saturdays through the end of October. Participants sign in upon arrival at the Farmer’s Market and walk his 1-mile walking route at their own pace. Upon completion of the route, the participant receives $4 in tokens and can buy fresh fruits and vegetables from participating vendors.

The Wilderness Road Blockhouse at Natural Tunnels State Park is open every Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Blockhouse was built on the North Fork of the Holston River by John Anderson in the spring of 1775. Tour a replica of Anderson’s blockhouse as members of the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association provide information about the history of the building and the area.
