Idaho Science and Technology Policy Fellowships Place Scientists in State Agencies

Moscow, Idaho (KIFI) — An expansion of the fellowship program across three Idaho universities places two scientists in Idaho government agencies, bringing their scientific expertise to policy making.

The Idaho Science and Technology Policy Fellowship (ISTPF) places scientists, social scientists, and engineers in state government to use their knowledge and skills to address pressing challenges facing Idaho while formulating policy. A non-partisan program to learn first-hand about The third-year fellowship is a partnership of Boise State University, Idaho State University, and the University of Idaho. New Fellows Dr. Anna Briggs and Dr. Sarah Maher started their fellowships in late August. Briggs holds a PhD in Entomology from the University of Idaho, and a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Veterinary Medicine. Her research focused on vector diseases, studying the biological factors that influence malaria parasite transmission.

Maher is a multidisciplinary researcher with expertise in magnetics research and data analysis. She holds a PhD in Earth Science from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, an MS in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a BS in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Victoria.
