Following last week’s turmoil that virtually turned the 2022 college football season upside down, the Top 25 teams probably need to be a little more cautious when they’re big favorites in Week 3. Top-tier non-conference games will be played, but there’s still a lot that could be shaken before league play begins in earnest and wraps up September.
The most notable Saturday was No. 13 Miami’s nightcap at No. 24 Texas A&M against the Aggies, who had just suffered the aforementioned upset loss to Appalachian State. The Hurricanes are trying to flex under first-year Mario Cristóbal as his coach, while Aggies Jimbo his Fischer coach is looking to keep the seats from getting too hot. Speaking of Cristobal, Cristobal’s former team is featured in other Top 25 showdowns, as Oregon State No. 25 hosts his BYU No. 12. The Cougars are feeling themselves after a big home win over Baylor, but the Ducks are looking to bounce back from a rough showing against Georgia in Week 1.
Also, No. 6 Oklahoma welcomes rival Nebraska, who has just fired Cornhuskers coach Scott Frost, newly created No. 1 Georgia visits SEC East rival South Carolina, and Auburn welcomes CBS. Games featured in. In other words, there’s no shortage of stories to chew on before Saturday goes live.

No. 22 Pennsylvania State University at Auburn
