Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute will host an open house and informational event for its new biopharmaceutical technology program next week, offering prospective students three opportunities to learn more about the program and tour the facility.

Events are scheduled for Tuesday, September 20th at 10:00 am and 5:00 pm and Saturday, September 24th at 10:00 am at the J Building on Hudson’s Caldwell Campus. Prospective students are welcome to attend any session. Each session includes a tour of our new biopharmaceutical lab, classrooms, and simulated cleanrooms.

CCC&TI is the second community college in the state and the only one west of Raleigh to offer an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Biopharmaceutical Technology. This program was added in 2020 in response to the growth of Caldwell County’s pharmaceutical industry and the needs of its workers.

This program offers a comprehensive curriculum in bioprocessing, including hands-on learning in state-of-the-art cleanrooms and labs. CCC&TI’s biopharmaceutical cleanrooms have technology that facilitates simulated drug development and contract manufacturing. The program is also supported by an active advisory board of experts in the field.

During the event, prospective students will be able to tour the biopharmaceutical cleanroom lab and hear from Caridad Smith, Director of Biopharmaceutical Technology Programs at CCC&TI. Smith details the university’s training and manufacturing capabilities and shares information about internships, apprenticeships, and job opportunities in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical and other life sciences industries.

The Biopharmaceutical Technology Program and Information Session will be held at CCC&TI’s Career Center (J Building). For more information, or to RSVP for one of the information sessions, visit www.cccti.edu/BioPharm.
