Scholarship Program “Leadership in Africa” ​​(LfA) A German higher education institution aimed at supporting the educational background and promotion of young refugees and national scholars from Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. In the event of conflict or evacuation in various African countries, this program aims to contribute to the education of future leaders who are essential to the further development of their home countries. The Leadership for Africa offers German master’s degree scholarships to qualified applicants in all fields of study. Excluding medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, law, art and architecture.. All “African Leadership” scholarship holders benefit from complementary training programs in good governance, civil society, and career development. In addition to regular learning, you will need to complete the required programs.

Requirements

The program is targeted at two groups.
1) Highly qualified refugees who hold refugee status and meet the qualifications required for a master’s degree in Germany.
Applicants must meet the following conditions.

  • Retaining refugee status in the host country and previously granted April 18, 2022
  • Asylum country must be either Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, or Uganda
  • Obtain a bachelor’s degree at the time of application

2) Excellent graduates from Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, who meet the qualifications required for a master’s degree in Germany.
Applicants must meet the following conditions.

  • Citizenship in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda or Uganda

  • Obtain a bachelor’s degree at the time of application

  • Language course in Germany before going on to university (up to 6 months)
  • Free tuition master’s or master’s degree program at a public or state university in Germany starting in the winter semester of 2023 (September / October 2023)

Funding period

Generally, selected candidates will start a German course in April 2023 and study for about an hour at a German higher education institution. October 1, 2023. The duration of funding is determined by the standard study duration of the selected research program. In general, a master’s program requires two years of full-time research.
